Take the stress out of auditioning and discover how to bring your best, most confident self into the room! This fun, supportive workshop will introduce practical audition techniques, including making strong choices, connecting with the material, using your voice and body effectively, and thinking on your feet. Through improvisation, scene work, monologues and hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to prepare, perform, and stand out while staying authentic.

ABOUT THE CLINICIAN:
Jody is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City where he received a scholarship from the Drama League and was the recipient of the prestigious Charles Jehlinger Award for Best Actor in 1983. He was also invited to become a member of the prestigious AADA Acting Co. in 1983/84.

A working actor and the director of the JW actors studio in Princeton, NJ and NYC, Jody was a long-time member of the Improv Troupe, The Groundlings, which later became Gotham City Improv. Some credits include films such as LA Confidential, Halloween H2O, Rules of Engagement, Chronicles of Riddick, Mimic 2, and Boogie Nights. Television credits include recurring roles in Diagnosis Murder, ER, West Wing, NYPD Blue, and CSI Miami. Jody is probably best known for his recurring role as Detective Wallace Danby in David E. Kelley’s Boston Public for 5 years. He combines over 35 years of extensive television, stage, and film work with his business experience as a public presenter, host of national sales launches throughout the country, consulting with sales teams, management teams, executives, and nonprofits. He has conducted several successful Teambuilding workshops for organizations around the globe and has assisted many CEO’s and countless others to become more adept at public speaking. Jody has conducted acting, improvisation, storytelling, and communication workshops for several schools in the Princeton, NJ area including The Lewis School, PDS, Stewart, Chapin School, American Boy Choir, Johnson School, Robbinsville High School, The Pennington School, The College of New Jersey, and Princeton University. He was an instructor and director at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts NYC campus where he also served as an improvisation specialist. Jody is also an adjunct professor in theater studies at The College of New Jersey. He is also the Founder/Director of SKIT, Special Kind of Improvisational Theater, which conducts improv-based workshops for people with Special Needs, ASP, IDD, Down Syndrome, ADHD, Learning difficulties and Behavioral issues. The workshops help to allow students to learn and perfect better communication and social skills and to discover what is possible. He is expanding that effort in the Northeast. He has 2 grown children, Joe and Lucy, both artists. He is a member of the SAG/AFTRA and Actors Equity Association.

Join Grove Passage Theatre Group for a dynamic 2-hour workshop designed to introduce you to our exceptional team of teaching artists. This is a unique opportunity for students to experience our training approach firsthand while connecting with the educators who bring our programs to life.

Participants will rotate through four 30-minute sessions led by our primary instructors, each offering a focused, hands-on exploration of key theatre skills. Sessions may include acting technique, comedy improv, clowning, dance, vocal training (including belting strategies), physical and vocal warmups, and audition preparation. Whether you are new to theatre or looking to deepen your skills, this workshop offers an engaging and supportive environment to learn, grow, and have fun.

Join Broadway actor Liam Fennecken for an exciting audition workshop focused on rock and pop musical theatre auditions! In this engaging session, participants will learn how to craft and perform a compelling audition cut while exploring what sets rock and pop shows apart from Golden Age and Classical shows. Each performer will have the opportunity to present their own audition piece and receive personalized feedback and coaching from Liam, helping them sharpen their vocal, acting, and storytelling skills while discovering those standout moments that make an audition unforgettable.

ABOUT THE CLINICIAN:
Liam Fennecken is a passionate actor, musician, and songwriter who strives to create genuine connections with audiences through the art of performance. An award-winning, classically trained vocalist, Liam is also proficient in percussion, guitar, mandolin, and saxophone. He has performed in all 50 U.S. states and has had the honor of appearing on Broadway stages, at Carnegie Hall and The Beacon Theatre, and at venues throughout South Korea, Australia, Spain, England, and Canada.

Liam is one-third of the popular a cappella group T.3, which made its television debut on America’s Got Talent and continues to release music and tour across the country. He made his Broadway debut as Amos Hart in Chicago. Additional theatre credits include national and international tours of School of Rock (Dewey Finn), American Idiot, Once (Svec), and Peter Pan (Smee/Nana). He was also a member of the original cast of Laurie Berkner’s The Amazing Adventures of Harvey and the Princess and has appeared in numerous regional productions, including Into the Woods, The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Yuletide Celebration, Rock of Ages, and the regional premiere of Almost Famous.

Liam feels incredibly grateful for the musical, vocal, and acting teachers who shared their expertise and helped him pursue his dream of becoming a performer. He is equally passionate about helping young artists pursue their own musical and acting ambitions. A proud Penn State graduate with a B.A. in Theatre/Performance and a minor in Animal Science, Liam has taught master classes and led workshops at Penn State, the University of Texas, Franklin School for the Performing Arts, and educational institutions across the country. He also teaches guitar, drums, singing, and acting through song in private lessons and through Soyulla Artists.
